KOKURYU, the Japanese word for BLACK DRAGON, came from this side table’s scale-like structure. Inspired by my love for Mexican/Japanese brutalist architecture, this table embodies the weight, strength and concrete material of many brutalist structures I love around the world. The rough texture is a nod to the volcanic rock materials of the high desert areas in which I have lived, as well as an ode to my love for fantasy in which many of a dragon is present.
