JOSEI is the Japanese word for FEMALE. Inspired by the futuristic, space age architecture of Arcosanti, AZ, the slender feminine form of this chair is both aesthetic pleasing and comfortably functional. During my years of living at Arco, I spent many hours admiring the shapes and shadows created by the other worldly architecture of Paolo Soleri and Tomiaki Tamura, often feeling transported to a different dimension or into the surrounding canyons. The JOSEI chair was the first chair I intentionally designed for teaching students how to build furniture. My favorite and most promising students were women of course. : )
The JOSEI barstool can be fully customizable and comes in counter and bar height. Made from chrome plated or powdercoated steel and paired with a gfr concrete or wooden seat.
