HITO is the Japanese word for PEOPLE. Inspired by the futuristic, space age architecture of Arcosanti, AZ, the slender embracing form of this chair is both aesthetically pleasing and comfortably functional. During my years of living at Arco, I spent many hours admiring the shapes and shadows created by the other worldly architecture of Paolo Soleri and Tomiaki Tamura, often feeling transported to a different dimension or into the surrounding canyons. The HITO chair was one the first chairs I intentionally designed for teaching students how to build furniture. This chair honors all of the loving and inspiring people that touched my life during my time at Arco.
The HITO dining chair can be fully customizable. Made from chrome plated or powdercoated steel and paired with a gfr concrete or wooden seat.
